Unassuming from the street, the white wood and brick structure’s ambiguous architectural style lies somewhere between colonial and modern farmhouse. Built in 1924, most of the structure’s original details are long gone, but period-inspired style within includes French oak floors, arched doorways, colorful tile work, vintage lighting and vaulted ceilings. River and Griffith Park, and recently redone by the boutique real estate development firm Better Shelter, Federle’s newly acquired cottage features a petite 1,377 square feet of living space with two bedrooms and two baths. Seems as though some of Tim Federle’s very own cocktail concoctions could be in celebratory order. Records reveal the San Francisco-born author of “Tequila Mockingbird: Cocktails with a Literary Twist” - chock full of recipes for whimsically named drinks like “One Flew Over the Cosmo’s Nest” and “The Lime of the Ancient Mariner” - has splashed down $1.2 million for a revamped 1920s house in L.A.’s ever-eclectic Atwater Village neighborhood.
